**Feb 7/12, 2013**

Relating momentum to force using Newton's second law. This gave us the impulse equation. These are the notes from class. There was an error in the notes. The units for impulse are the same as for momentum [kg m/s] or [N s]. This is corrected in the notes posted here.

**Feb 13/14, 2013**

Conservation of momentum (part 1) From Newton's Third law, we were able to show that momentum is conserved in a closed system with no external forces. These are the notes from class.

Next class is the lab. Make sure that you have completed the purpose, materials and pre-lab questions on the lab write-up before next class (here is the table for the lab). If you have volunteered to bring roller blades, ensure that you do bring them on the day of the lab.

Also, work through the problem set on conservation of momentum. You can check your answers with the solutions that are included in the problem set.
